Build 2023 Conference: AI at the heart of the new features
Microsoft organized its annual Build conference for developers from 23 to 25 May 2023. AI plays a central role in this event, and is considered to be the driving force behind the great technological change that is taking place.
A number of announcements were made at the event:
1. Integration of the new Bing into ChatGPT:
As part of the partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI, Bing has been integrated into ChatGPT as the default search experience. This enables ChatGPT to provide faster, up-to-date answers based on web searches and data, directly in the conversation. This feature is available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers and will soon be extended to all users via the activation of a plugin integrating Bing with ChatGPT.
2. Expanding the AI plugin ecosystem:
Plugins are tools that increase the capabilities of AI systems by enabling them to interact in real time with other digital solutions or services via APIs. Microsoft is adopting the same open plugin standard as that offered by OpenAI for ChatGPT, enabling interoperability between ChatGPT and Microsoft's Copilot offerings. Developers can create plugins that are compatible with both consumer and business interfaces, including ChatGPT, Bing, Dynamics 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft is also encouraging developers to integrate their applications and services directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot via the plugins.
3. Launch of Windows Copilot for Windows 11:
Windows 11 includes Windows Copilot, a centralized AI assistance system. By combining Bing Chat with proprietary and third-party plugins, users can focus on bringing their ideas to life, completing complex projects and collaborating. A preview of Windows Copilot will be available from June 2023.
4. Launch of Microsoft Fabric:
Microsoft Fabric is a new unified platform for data analysis. It encompasses data engineering, integration, storage, data science, real-time analysis, applied observability and business intelligence. Customers can take advantage of these capabilities via a single, unified experience. Microsoft Fabric is enhanced by the Azure OpenAI service and enables developers to take advantage of generative AI.
In addition to these announcements, Microsoft also unveiled more than 50 new products and features at Build 2023, including AI tools for developers such as Azure AI Studio, Azure Machine Learning prompt flow, Azure AI Content Safety, and new features for Microsoft Designer, Bing Image Creator, Microsoft Dev Box and the Microsoft Store on Windows.
Microsoft is using AI to redefine the future of work, stimulate the imagination of developers and transform the way they program.
