Chemicals & Metals

The commodity trading ERP

Purpose-built for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Quality control with certificates of analysis, splitting and blending orders, package-centric logistics, chemical-analysis-aware pricing, and Incoterms 2020 compliance — one system from mine to customer.

Core Modules

12 integrated modules for commodity operations

Every aspect of chemical and metals trading, from quality control through logistics to financial reporting — built directly into Business Central.

Quality Control & Certificates of Analysis

Full QC order lifecycle across purchases, sales, transfers, production, blending, and splitting. Generate Certificates of Analysis for shipments and sales orders. Out-of-range reporting, QC-gated allocation blocking, and photo attachments on QC orders.

Chemical Analysis

Analyse material composition at the lot and package level. Chemical analysis tied to commercial documents — purchases, sales, blending, and splitting. Drill-down from inventory to chemical composition with setup-driven matrix views.

Splitting & Blending Orders

Dedicated order types for splitting bulk materials into smaller lots and blending multiple lots into alloys. Full posting workflow with scrap percentage control, auto-closing of linked production orders, and posted order archives.

Package Management

First-class package tracking across all document types — orders, invoices, production, blending, splitting, transfers, and warehouse receipts. Package capacity integrity reports, package-aware production, and recycled package defaults per process.

Allocation Workbench

Match supply to demand with QC-aware suggestions. Suggest best matches with or without QC filtering. Link allocations to purchase orders, sales orders, production, blending, splitting, and inventory. Auto-create allocations on transfer orders.

Chemical-Analysis-Aware Pricing

Three pricing calculation modes: standard cost, scale-per-rate, and chemical analysis. Price materials based on their actual assay composition — critical for ferroalloys and metals where value depends on elemental content.

Incoterms 2020 Compliance

Full Incoterms 2020 rule sheet with transport mode classification (any mode vs. sea/inland waterway), insurance levels, seller/buyer responsibility, and usability scoring. Validation engine across all sales and purchase documents.

Inventory & Value Tracing

Lot and package-centric inventory with quarantine location management. Inventory value tracing with ratio analysis links quantities and costs across the supply chain. Excel-based stock reports via Microsoft Excel Reports integration.

Extended Production

Package-aware production orders with consumption and output buffers. Track packages through production input, output, and release locations. QC on components and output with setup-driven validation rules.

Turnover & Financial Reporting

Turnover reporting across customer ledger, G/L, item ledger, value entries, and inventory value tracing. Aggregated financial reports. Commission proposals. Cash-flow date logic aligned to logistics dates (receipt, shipment, delivery).

Intrastat & EU Trade

Event-driven enrichment on Intrastat lines for automated EU trade declaration preparation. Transport method translations and receive/ship period management with day, week, and month granularity.

REST APIs for Integration

Comprehensive API surface covering inventory, packages, production, purchases, sales, QC orders, transfer orders, and chemical analysis by lot and package. Connect warehouse apps, customer portals, and third-party systems.

Role Centers

Five dedicated workspaces

Each user sees the data and actions relevant to their role — from the trading desk to the warehouse floor.

Management

KPIs, pipeline overview, and cross-functional visibility across sales, purchases, and production.

Accounting

Turnover reports, commission proposals, bank charge management, and financial aggregation.

Administration

Setup, master data, number series, QC element templates, and system configuration.

Logistics

Inventory cues, package orders, warehouse features, allocation workbench, and shipping agent management.

Sales

Sales activities, customer management, allocation from stock, and certificate of analysis generation.

Why Chemicals & Metals

Built by commodity traders, for commodity traders

Not a generic ERP add-on. Every feature was designed for the specific workflows of chemical distributors, ferroalloy traders, metals processors, and steel stockholders.

  • QC-gated workflows prevent unverified material from reaching customers
  • Chemical-analysis pricing ensures you never under- or over-charge on alloy content
  • Splitting and blending orders model the actual physical operations your warehouse performs
  • Package management tracks every drum, bag, big-bag, and container through the entire lifecycle
  • Allocation workbench matches supply to demand considering quality and availability
  • Incoterms 2020 rule engine validates trade terms on every document
  • Inventory value tracing follows cost from purchase through production to sale
  • Five role centers give each team member exactly the view they need

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Which industries does Chemicals and Metals support?

The solution is built for ferroalloy traders, chemical distributors, metals processors, steel stockholders, and commodity brokers. Any business that buys, processes (blends or splits), and resells bulk materials with lot-level quality control requirements is a fit.

How does chemical-analysis-aware pricing work?

You can configure pricing to use three modes: standard cost, scale-per-rate, or chemical analysis. In chemical analysis mode, the price is calculated based on the actual elemental composition of the lot — for example, the chromium or silicon content in a ferroalloy — rather than a fixed unit price.

What does the Quality Control workflow cover?

QC orders can be created on purchases, sales, transfers, production output, blending, splitting, and package orders. Each order tracks QC elements, results, and approval status. You can generate Certificates of Analysis for shipments, block allocations for non-approved material, and attach photos to QC orders.

What are splitting and blending orders?

Splitting orders break a bulk lot into smaller lots or packages. Blending orders combine multiple lots into a new alloy or mixture. Both have full posting workflows with scrap percentage control, dedicated item journals, and can auto-close linked production orders.

Does the app support Incoterms 2020?

Yes. The app includes a complete Incoterms 2020 rule sheet with transport mode categories, insurance levels, seller and buyer responsibilities, and usability scoring. Incoterms are validated on sales and purchase documents with ship-from and ship-to city sourcing rules.

Can I integrate with external systems?

Yes. The app exposes REST APIs for inventory, packages, production, purchases, sales, QC orders, transfer orders, and chemical analysis by lot and package. This enables integration with warehouse mobile apps, customer portals, and third-party logistics systems.

Does it work with standard Business Central?

Yes. Chemicals and Metals is a certified AppSource extension that installs on top of standard Business Central Online. It does not modify the base application and receives automatic updates with every platform release. Runtime version 16.0, targeting BC 2025 Wave 2.

How long does implementation take?

For companies already running Business Central, the app can be installed and configured in days. A full ERP implementation including Chemicals and Metals typically takes 2–6 months depending on the number of entities, integrations, and data migration scope.
